Vacation bible schoolThank you to Upper Arlington Lutheran Church and Peace Church for making us their 2022 VBS Mission Partner. Through both of these programs, we collected over 3,000 items with an estimated value of over $8,000! because school matters![]() A great deal of planning, shopping and work goes into having our annual backpack giveaway. Because of the wonderful donations from Upper Arlington Lutheran Church and our supporters, this year we are giving out 550 backpacks filled with school supplies. Thank you to Terry Trubiano and Sue Bauchmoyer for coordinating the school supplies for the backpacks. And thank you to Pat Cleary for helping us to buy the school supplies at a reduced cost. GHHC is so grateful that we had wonderful volunteers who helped to pack the backpacks. The UALC staff used their Volunteer Day to stuff the backpacks with these extra supplies. And the Bible Study small group including Terry Trubiano, Sue Bauchmoyer, and Dawn Griebel packed the backpacks as well. Thank you, thank you to all of you! We could not complete this project without your assistance! We have asked Dr. CeCe Harris for Columbus Parks and Recreation's van to pick up 400 backpacks to deliver to Huy Elementary for the giveaway. Psalm 84:11-12 ~ For the Lord God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right. O Lord of Heaven’s Armies, what joy for those who trust in you. thrivent packs bags for GHHCDiane was so pleased to receive this email from an associate of her Thrivent financial and insurance agent. It was a great deja vu moment because Diane for years would apply for Thrivent Action Team projects to support activities and projects of God's Hygiene Help Center: I work with Jeff Ritter in the Reynoldsburg Office and I had an idea that he thought you might be able to help with. I (Thrivent) is one of the sponsors at the Linden-McKinley Golf Classic held on Saturday, August 6 at New Albany Links Golf Club. The event raises money for the Linden-McKinley Football Program. I had the idea of also using a Thrivent Action Team at the event to buy supplies for the golfers to stuff Blessing Bags to support the community. Since God’s Hygiene Help Center is located in the Linden Community, I thought this activity would be a way to showcase the member benefits of Thrivent and also be added support for the Linden Community. Does this makes sense? Would you be able to put me in touch with the correct person at the Help Center to coordinate? Joe Mulpas, CPA*, Financial Advisor, Northeast Advisor Group, Central Ohio Group Our wonderful volunteer Brenda Andracki agreed to contact Joe. She shared with him the hygiene products most often requested by our clients according to Peggy who helps pack orders at our Oakland Park Help Center. Brenda also offered to attend the Linden McKinley Golf Classic to share with the 100+ golfers about our mission here at GHHC. We will provide the hygiene bags for them and also our promotional brochures to give to the golfers. Thank you Thrivent, Joe and Brenda! festa studentsIn late July, Erin Arnett contacted GHHC to ask about getting hygiene bags for the FESTA teen helpers who helped with the Summer Lunch program. They discussed what hygiene items would best suit the teens' needs. The request was for 25 bags for teen girls and 25 bags for teen boys. Chris Bumpass, Resources Manager, and Lesley Tate, Operations Manager, ordered and picked up hygiene products and bags for the teen helpers. Thank you to Brian and Luke Chandler for packing the teen hygiene bags. Erin picked up the hygiene bags on Monday to give out to the teen helpers during the final week of the Summer Lunch program. Erin said: "I was thrilled to get hugs and see them there today! This last week at camp is very important as our teens can hopefully be there to get camp shirts, backpacks filled with school supplies, and hygiene bags from God’s Hygiene Help Center filled with personal care products." We’ve heard countless people share their stories along with their gratitude for what we are currently doing and offering. Community members who are now able to purchase more food instead of spending massive amounts of money on hygiene products, some community members who are able to start saving for back to school items for their children since extra money is scarce, grandmothers who are taking care of their kid’s kids’ who need any type of support they can get, I could tell you the stories all day. We really are just truly grateful for the partnership that’s formed and are looking forward to helping that partnership flourish as much as possible in the future! THANK YOUUUUU! All the best, Nikki Van Dine, MBA, CPRP Recreation Manager Dodge Recreation Center Helping hands health & wellness center![]() Helping Hands Health & Wellness Center is very thankful for the partnership we share with God’s Hygiene Help Center! As a GHHC partner, we receive 25 hygiene bags each month to give to our patients that come to us for medical care. As a community, faith-based, free medical clinic we serve patients who are uninsured/underinsured and low income. These hygiene bags provide individuals with the hygiene, personal care, and cleaning supplies that they need. Our patients express how thankful they are to receive these bags! We wouldn’t be able to provide this wonderful gift without God’s Hygiene Help Center- thank you from all of us at Helping Hands! Allison Smith, Operations Manage ![]() Months ago one of our regular clients named Donna asked if we could collect and donate special items for Christmas bags for shut ins at their church. Thanks to HARP, we had some new Christmas stockings as well as some Bath and Body items. This month we met the President of the St. James the Less Women’s Club. Lou Ann shared, "At Christmas we do between 20 and 25 Christmas bags for our shut ins at church. I think soaps, creams, tooth brushes and tooth paste, any thing along these lines would be so welcomed. I am not sure about the adult diapers but will check and let you know. Thank you so much for all of your help. It is greatly appreciated." 1As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Ephesians 4 volunteers at oakland park help center![]() Welcome to Carolyne Uhas Graff who talked to Tammy at UALC at Mill Run about wanting to help where most needed. Of course that is serving our clients at our Oakland Park Help Center. We are so grateful that Carolyne can help one day a week for a few hours Thank you to the two sons of Pedros and Ruth Asgedom who came to volunteer one day. Tammy did not call anyone to ask for help. Only God could have led Pedros to call her to offer help if we needed it. The two young men Simon (older) and Lukas Estifanos were an answer to prayer since we were short handed that day. Bonnie spends the summer with her husband at their place in Michigan. Diane had taken her granddaughter on a trip to 5 central Europe countries and to see The Passion Play. Thank you to Peggy and Curtis who willingly help train our new volunteers on what to do at our Help Center. We would love to have you join us. We don't want to be short staffed when another fabulous volunteer accepts an internship position at the end of August. Look at available shifts and tasks at Volunteer So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 oakland park help centerIn July we served 400 clients who come to our Help Center every Tuesday and Thursday. We all heard about the terrible fire on the Hilltop on Wedgewood. One of the neighbors had everything destroyed because of smoke damage. She heard that God's Hygiene Help Center gives out free hygiene and cleaning products. When the woman shared her story with Tammy and our volunteers, our hearts were touched. Wo we packed up a Clean Start Basket for them. Tammy also heard about a family who moved here from Guatemala. The woman is a home health aide helping Tammy's home bound mother. Tammy is so proud of her great niece Mi'Yonni and also the daughter of a Linden community woman she's known. Miyonni Owensby graduated from Reynoldsburg Encore Academy and is going to West Virginia State University. Her major will be Business Administration and Management. Thank you to Kathryn Farrar for shopping for and packing 2 College Bags for these students going away to college. She packed up a shower tote filled with shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, towel and more. Then she filled a mesh laundry bag with tissues, hangers, feminine products and most important snacks. We are sure these bags are going to be much appreciated. Thanks Kathryn for your thoughtfulness! Thank you to Dr. Bill and Kathryn for delivering boxes of Christian books which were donated. Our clients enjoy looking through the books available to choose one. If you have extra Bibles around your home, would you consider donating them to GHHC on Oakland Park. Thank you. GO AND REACH BY CHRISTINE CAINE“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19–20, ESV).
I love the passion with which Jesus lived His life on earth. His heart was always to seek and save those who were lost. It was so important to Him that after His crucifixion, death, burial, and resurrection, He took a detour on His way to Heaven to, in effect, say in Matthew 28, “Let me remind you why you’re here on this earth. I’m going to be seated at the right hand of the Father, and I’m going to come back and get you. But, in the meantime, this is what I need you to do. Here’s your job profile: There is a lost and broken world, and I am anointing you with the same Spirit that raised Me from the dead so you can be salt and light in the midst of it. You’re not supposed to run from the lost; you’re supposed to run to the lost. You’re not supposed to judge the lost; you’re supposed to love the lost. You’re not supposed to condemn the lost but go, reach, and help the lost.” Friend, we are God’s search and rescue team for a lost and broken world! But if you look at people through the lens of your prejudices, fears, biases, or even the lens of social media, you’re going to run from the very people God has called you to go and reach. Today, let’s be the people God has called us to be, ready to see others and reach out to them with His love, grace, and truth!
