join our team of volunteer angelsWe have such an awesome team of volunteers at our Oakland Park Help Center (OPHC)--we have fun serving our clients while we are working together as a team. Volunteers at the Help Center help with greeting, checking in clients, filling hygiene bags with products and Our Daily Bread, and giving hygiene bags to our clients. OPHC located at 1402 Oakland Park is open Tuesdays and Thursdays. Volunteers usually arrive between 9:30 and 10 am so we have time to pray and be ready to serve our clients when we open at 10:30 am. We are open until 1 pm with coffee, bottled water, cookies and lunch provided. Please stop by to visit us to talk about volunteering and becoming one of the Linden Angels with us. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:32 in memory of john willisJohn Willis was the friendly greeter at God's Hygiene Help Center. His battle is over. I will keep you all updated and posted as much as I can I'm not going to work today and will be here for Donna. Reach out to Donna I'm sure she will appreciate the thoughts. One of the class members named Jan asked Diane if GHHC could use some baby items. Even though we don't carry those items, she knew that one of our clients could probably use them. Then Jan shared that they were cleaning out storage closets at CSCC. Would we like boxes body wash, shaving cream, baby powder, deodorant and other items? Yes, we wold be glad to accept those items. As soon as we unloaded her vehicle and placed the boxes in the Help Center, Peggy Wolf walked into the Help Center to begin her volunteer shift and shared about the upcoming mission trip for Helping Appalachian Rural People (H.A.R.P.) Ministry in Caldwell, Ohio. H.A.R.P. is a Christian organization that works to serve people seeking self-sufficiency, leading to independence by providing spiritual, emotional and material support. Peggy and her husband Jim along with other volunteers with leave on this Southeast Ohio Mission Trip on June 8: at home construction projects, bed building, prayer, care and more. So we then helped load the donated boxes into Peggy's car. She said, "Thanks to GHHC we are able to give wonderful full Blessing Bags to give to their nursing home ministry with HARP." All packed by our volunteers, Linden's Angels. God's Hygiene is always happy to partner with another great ministry such as HARP which is helping people in need. vbs and ghhcThank you to the young people who will be collecting hygiene products as their mission project at Vacation Bible School. Upper Arlington Lutheran Church (UALC) VBS will be collecting hygiene during the week of June 13. Another church's VBS is considering adopting God's Hygiene for their mission project. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. The school nurse at Linden McKinley STEM Academy emailed us this message: "I am in need of tampons, pads and deodorant again. I still have plenty of toothbrushes and toothpaste. Is there any way to get another donation before the end of the school year? Thank you again!! It has all been put to good use!!!!" Our super volunteer Brenda Andracki started packing a School Dignity Box this next morning and called the nurse to confirm if she needed extra items. As a student, Tammy remembers the embarrassing need for such basic dignity items. Tammy attended a dance performance at Duxberry Alternative Elementary School and of course shared about our School Dignity Boxes. The next day Diane emailed the school principal: "I am a retired Columbus City Schools teacher who volunteers with God's Hygiene Help Center. We have been providing several Linden area schools with a Dignity School Box filled with 25 items of deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap and feminine hygiene products. Would your school nurse want us to pack a box before school is released for the summer?" "Hi Diane, wow, this is great! Is there a cost for this? I am very interested, please let me know .Thank you. Best, Mbb" "All is a gift from God. We will pack a box on Tuesday for you." And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. Officer Zacher took Tammy to introduce her to a lady who runs the day care. When the lady saw Tammy, she exclaimed "Oh Tammy! Remember me? Remember you made me show you my lease? God's Hygiene and resources through Immaculate Conception were able to help furnish her house with furniture, food and hygiene. She said she would never forget me. Tammy had told her that God provided. She says "He still does. Praise and glory to God!" Receiving a Clean Start Basket from Tammy, this woman's photo was included on the front of our first GHHC brochure. Five years ago there were actually 3 homeless and hopeless women living at Faith Mission. They came to Tammy's door on Howey Road and said, "We heard about you. Please help us." So Tammy pulled all her resources and made a map what they should do. She referred them to Nancy's Place and they completed the 6 months program. They got their deposit and first month's rent paid. So they had their very own homes, three different apartments. So it was a happy reunion! 1 Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. 2 Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits-- 3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, 5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Psalm 103:1-5 CLEAN START BASKETSKathryn Farrar with help from her grandchildren packed and delivered two Clean Start Baskets to Paul Sparks for men in the Embark program. She also packed two Baskets for women in the Kindway program. GHHC so appreciates her volunteering to coordinate the Clean Start Baskets project. Tammy met a family with a number of children. They had moved from Jordan and were starting over in America. She knew they needed a proper welcome with a Clean Start Basket full of hygiene and cleaning products. curtis and his homeless friend(Our super greeter and helper Curtis has made friends with "Kevin." Curtis bought his dark green (almost black) 1995 Cadillac. Kevin comes around the Help Center every few days and we offer him a cup of coffee, bottled water, share our lunch with him, donated clothes and, of course, needed hygiene.. "I am deeply grateful for this important moment in my life. I want to share with you about a man who has become an intricate part of my life at this time. A homeless man who is genuine in his compassion and filled with kindness. I originally met Larry in the Dollar Tree parking lot where he was sleeping in his car. He was selling his old school Cadillac which he was actually living in at the time. I liked the car and wanted to help him out. Since my purchase of the Cadillac in February 2022, we have become good friends. Every time I see him, I take the time to talk with him. I thank God and all the ladies (Linden Angels) at God's Hygiene Oakland Center for the care and concern that they show to Mr. Kevin." Curtis Delaney 10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 tammy and terry talk to area churchesThank you to the efforts of our new Church Donations Coordinators, Steve and Cheryl Heavilin. On Monday, May 9, Tammy and Terry talked to a group at Bethel Presbyterian Church. The church members were so impressed with the presentation that the next morning one of the ladies came to pick up a bin for a hygiene donation box at Bethel Presbyterian.
